“To touch the hearts of your students is the greatest miracle you can perform.”
(De La Salle, Med. 139.3 - feast of St. Peter)
As a Lasallian Catholic school, our institution is rooted in the strength of the relationships with our students. Since the time of our Founder, the relationship between teacher and student has been at the heart of that work. The very title “Brother” came from St. La Salle’s charge for teachers to consider themselves elder brothers of the students.
Given our identity and our heritage, our school community must provide student programming that puts students at the center, and creates an experience for all students that is personalized, relationship-based, and holistic. Our advisory program ensures that we are living the mission of the Brothers to touch hearts by seeing, knowing, and loving our students. Advisory is a dedicated time for a small cohort of students and an adult advisor to foster whole-person growth through authentic relationships.
Advisory is the backbone of our social-emotional program at Justin-Siena, and the role of the advisor is integral to the success of both the individual student and the smooth functioning of the community as a whole. The job of an advisor is multifaceted, Advisors work with students both on an individual level as well as on a group level, and any advisor’s job is to track and support their advisees’ academic progress, as well as their social and emotional health.
