Coach Don Maiden enters his second year as the head coach for the softball program after serving as an assistant previously. He started coaching and officiating youth sports while still in high school and has enjoyed mentoring wrestling, basketball, baseball, and softball players over the past 3 decades.
Coach Maiden was raised in Vallejo where he attended St. Patrick-St. Vincent HS. He grew up playing baseball, among other sports. He attended UC Santa Barbara for his undergraduate studies and Boston University for his master's degree. He is a board member for the Napa Sheriff’s Activities League and the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Pastoral Council.
Coach Maiden believes that softball mimics life. There are successes and failures. The manner in which one reacts to successes and failures speaks volumes about one’s character. These are life skills that will carry the team into adulthood.
Coach Maiden believes that everyone learns differently, which necessitates a variety of teaching styles and life experiences.
