Tom Durante '93 Honored at 50th Anniversary Theatre Gala
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Justin-Siena High School Theatre program, we recognized Tom Durante, from the Class of 1993, for his tireless dedication, presence, and support of the performing arts at Justin-Siena High School. As a Lasallian Catholic school committed to quality education and service, we find Tom’s servant leadership exemplary to the students entrusted to our care.
Tom’s affinity for Justin-Siena runs deep as he developed a love of the spotlight, and operating one, on the Justin-Siena stage as a student in the early ’90s. He developed a keen interest in theatre arts under the direction of Mr. Alex Urban as well as the program’s founding Director, Mr. Robert Morrish, with whom he shared the stage on more than one occasion as Mr. Morrish continued his involvement as a faculty guest performer. Since graduating from Chapman University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in technical theater and a Master’s in Fine Arts degree from Cal State Fullerton, Tom has been tirelessly lending his talent to his high school alma mater. Using the professional skills honed from his design based event production company, The Lux Productions—servicing private clients and celebrities up and down the state and based in Sonoma—he continues to serve in a leadership capacity as part of the technical staff on theatre productions. Through his artistic and technical contributions at Justin-Siena, has touched the hearts and opened the minds of countless students, inspiring many to pursue careers in the technical aspects of theatre.
Justin-Siena Theatre’s achievement of this fifty-year milestone is due, in large part, to Tom’s constant commitment and dedication. Tom currently serves as Chair of the Justin-Siena Board of Trustees and was inducted as a member of the Alumni Hall of Honor in 2009. In recognition of the impact he has had on countless Justin-Siena performers and theatre technicians, we are honored to celebrate a legacy which Tom continues to build on today through his constant involvement in and care for the entire Justin-Siena community.
